ABB FORMULA-E CHAMPIONSHIP

ABB FORMULA E CHAMPIONSHIPElectrifying racing with ABB - run the world, without consuming the earth.

ABB, in conjunction with the world leaders in sports car innovation, are writing the future together with electric cars and digital technology. Formula E is fully-electric street car racing, but racing with top spec cars which push the boundaries of what electric cars are capable of.

The new breed of cars can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 2.8 seconds, reaching a maximum speed of 280 km/h...with a maximum power of 250kW...weighing in at 900kg (man and car combined) - all powered by a 385kg battery. (Based on the Gen2 car).

The season 5 opener in Saudi Arabia will see 11 teams and 22 cars take to the track on 15th Dec 2018 in Ad Diriyah. Covering 2.495 km of track, including 21 twists & turns, the cars will battle for the first round victory. BMW, Audi, Nissan, Mercedes affiliate HWA and Panasonic Jaguar will all be taking part hoping to take the Saudi Arabian laurels before heading on to Marrakesh in Morrocco. Chile, Mexico, Hong Kong and China come after, before the teams head to Europe, with Rome, Italy being their first racing point in the glorious Circuito Cittadino dell'Eur - a street circuit used for the 2018 Rome ePrix.

The evolution of the cars since 2011 has been dramatic and now the championship represents: "All-electric city street racing at its most brutal and best. It's racing, reinvented". With timed races, as opposed to lap limits, the cars have 45 minutes plus one lap to see the final wave of the chequered flag.

Sounds exciting? Want to be part of it? EDC will be attending one of the European venues (Rome, Paris or Berlin) and you can come too. EDC will be taking two lucky winners along with them to see how competition can drive sustainability. So push the button and join us on a very unique road trip!
