About the role

As internal technical sales, you will be responsible for dealing with customer enquiries via telephone, website, and email for the supply of variable speed drives (VSDs/inverters), softstarts, LV motors, switch and fuse gear.

 

You will also deal with enquiries about our site services, including hire equipment, harmonic and power factor surveys, and service and repair work. This will require some technical knowledge to specify the correct equipment for the engineer’s jobs.

 

You will report to the general manager and office manager, and will be expected to take on a variation of the following responsibilities:

 

Sales

  • Take initial customer enquiries
  • Prepare and submit sales quotations using EMIR operating system
  • Liaise with suppliers and distributors
  • Build relationships with customers and gain repeat business
  • Follow a job from initial quote through to order and delivery

 

Technical support

  • Provide technical telephone assistance to customers and sales colleagues
  • Learn the key products supplied by EDC and have the confidence to support and guide our customer base when issues arise
  • Build relationships with the manufacturer (ABB) to best understand your support structure

 

Additional responsibilities

  • You may be asked to attend site to specify parts required for jobs/projects or attend site meetings to give a progress update/report
  • You may be asked to assist another member of staff or management with general administrative duties

About you:

 

Skill set

  • Proficient with office-based programmes such as Microsoft Excel & Word
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Able to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks at once
  • Investigative and persistent with a friendly personality and positive outlook
  • Presentable with good timekeeping
  • Adaptable and willing to learn

 Previous experience (desirable)

  • Experience in an internal/external sales role or electrical engineering position
  • Knowledge of electrical industry, preferably including motor applications and some VSD knowledge

 The benefits

  • You will be joining a friendly, close-knit team of office staff and engineers
  • Negotiable salary starting from £25k depending on experience
  • Working hours will be 8am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday (but could be subject to change) with a 30-minute lunch break
  • You will have 32 days of annual leave, including bank holidays
  • Pension scheme is available
  • Full ABB and internal training will be provided
  • A three-month probation period will apply for this position
